Meet Dayana Merkla
I am Dayana Merkla, a family lawyer dedicated to guiding clients through some of life’s most challenging transitions with empathy, strategy, and clarity. My work is about more than applying the law, it is about supporting people when they feel most vulnerable, ensuring they feel heard, and helping them achieve outcomes that provide stability and confidence for the future.
How I Became a Lawyer
My path into law was inspired by a strong desire to help vulnerable people and to assist in complex and sensitive matters. After completing my Bachelor of Laws and Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice, I was admitted as a solicitor of the Supreme Court of NSW and the High Court of Australia in 2025. From the outset, I knew family law was the area where I could make the most meaningful impact, so I entered directly into this practice.
Why I’m Passionate About Family Law
Family law is deeply personal, it touches not just legal rights but relationships, children, and futures. I am passionate about this area because it allows me to combine legal knowledge with compassion. I see my role as more than resolving disputes: it is about establishing trust, building relationships, and walking alongside clients throughout difficult times with both professionalism and care.
Why Clients Can Trust Me
Clients describe me as empathetic, honest, strategic, and efficient. I am known for going above and beyond expectations, ensuring each case is handled with diligence and dedication. My ambition and work ethic set me apart, and I approach every matter with the goal of delivering outcomes that are not only legally sound but truly supportive of clients’ long-term wellbeing.
What Drives Me
I am driven by the challenge of succeeding where others believe success is impossible. Proving people wrong and turning obstacles into opportunities motivates me every day. My greatest reward is hearing clients say, “You supported me throughout the way.” Those words remind me that family law is not only about legal outcomes, but also about providing reassurance, stability, and strength when clients need it most.
Life Outside of Law
Outside of my practice, I enjoy pilates, makeup, and shopping. I am also a passionate foodie who loves exploring new restaurants and experiences. Most importantly, I value spending time with my family, whose support and influence have shaped both my personal and professional journey.
