Meet Irem Altundag
I am Irem Altundag, a Solicitor practising across family law and criminal law, with a strong focus on complex, high-conflict matters.
I built my path into the legal profession through a combined Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws, followed by the completion of my Practical Legal Training at the College of Law. From early on, I was drawn to areas of law that sit at the intersection of personal crisis and legal consequence, where the outcome genuinely shapes a person’s life.
Professional Journey
In my previous role at a criminal law firm, I worked on serious indictable matters before the Supreme Court, including cases involving murder, sexual assault, and aggravated assault. This experience required a high level of discipline, attention to detail, and the ability to work under pressure in complex, evidence-heavy proceedings.
I now practice across both family law and criminal law, regularly appearing in the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia and the Local and District Courts. My work involves parenting disputes, property matters, domestic violence proceedings, and criminal charges, often requiring careful navigation between jurisdictions.
Alongside my practice, I am currently undertaking a Master of Applied Law (Family Law) to further strengthen my expertise in family law and ensure my advice remains current, strategic, and well-informed.
Why I Am Passionate About This Industry
I am passionate about law as it demands more than technical knowledge. It requires judgment, resilience, and the ability to remain composed under pressure. In family and criminal law, clients are often at their most vulnerable. Being able to step in, take control, and provide clear direction is not just important, it is essential.
I am particularly driven by matters where there is an imbalance of power, where a client needs someone to stand firm, cut through the noise, and advocate with clarity and strength.

My approach is simple: be prepared, be strategic, and do not lose sight of the outcome. I take ownership of my matters and ensure that every step taken serves a clear purpose. Whether it is negotiating a resolution or preparing for hearing, I focus on achieving results that are both legally sound and practically effective.
